I was listening to the local radio today and heard a great series/competition they have running. The basic idea is this:
Listeners recommend a local (unsigned) band for the station to review. The station then goes along to the gig and listens to the band playing live.
If they sound good and polished and give a crowd pleasing performance, they get posted online to the stations website – they post a bio, a review of the group, style of music and host an mp3 of the group.
At the end of the week, the listeners review and vote for the best group. Whoever wins the week, gets to record their best song for free at the stations studio! What a great prize for the
You know you’ve got days when you know you should have got around to something much earlier, but didn’t? Like practicing a musical instrument for pleasure oa performance.
Well, a friend of my mothers was always ‘threatening’ us with a public performance of his saxophone skills – even though we lived close enough to hear the private rehearsals.
Still all the neighbourhood looked forward to the day when a musician finally came out from their modest shell to share the music they love.
All of us were treated to the intricacies of ‘Baker Street’ – or at least the into for countless hours on end. Sometimes you could even hear most of the song, played a little falteringly, but complete nonetheless.
I would often keep my eye out for sheet music for the fledgling sax player and
I was trying to get a new design finished today and while I was enjoying the last of my ice cool water, I looked around and just behind me a big black crow flew at some force into the window!
What shocked me was how loud the ‘thud’ was – it sounded like a full bass drum having the skin ripped. I opened the window to see if the bird was alright, but it had just gone. I think it was probably too embarrassed to admit what happened and hoped no other bird saw it 😛
When I brought my head back inside, I was presented with the most delightful sight
Boy is it a big blogosphere out there. I’ve been reading and trying to digest all the tools around and have discovered Technorati! Yes, I know some folks will laugh at that idea of just discovering, but just remember, you didn’t always know how to walk!
I am still deciding which hosting option is best for the final online store.
The previous post got me thinking about all things Japanese, so I decided to put up a new post on that! Apparently the Japanese drummers ‘Taiko‘ were playing from around 750AD.
They also use the same lute (gakbiwa / biwa) and zither (gakuso / koto) had come over from China. These instruments used a pentatonic scale, not the same as the West is used to thanks to The Blues!
It could be said that the Chinese and Japanese were the first Blues players in the world 😛
(or maybe that should be drum and bass!)
Anyway, I’ve just begun looking at the writing and I’ll see about incorporating them into
I was actually looking around for a present for Fathers Day and I came across a PSP case which looked interesting, but not interesting enough. So I went and designed a PSP case my Dad would probably use.
I think the design on this one was inspired by the ‘just a twinkle in daddy’s eye’ that I was once! I was so pleased with the way this design looked, it had to be my first picture on the site!
I’m still trying to work my way around this blog, and I’ll keep it as well designed as I can, and will improve it as time goes on.
I am chilly and wrapped up and looking forward to a warm plate of fries. I have been reading the weather reports and it says there’s definitely better weather on the way 😀
I was trying to plan a beach party for tonight, but I am having to postpone it to the coming weekend. The last one I enjoyed with a small group of friends and we had fun cleaning up afterwards. The BBQ we had was a nightmare to start, don’t those things take ages to get going! Thankfully one of the people walking past eventually help us out with his lighter, as none of us smoke!
With that in mind, all of us enjoyed hot food instead of ultra fresh and raw food.
One of the chaps in a group next to us had a rather eye catching top on, more for the color then his body 🙂 . I have tried to find something similar but had a problem. The closest color I have found I decided to put a very bold design on. I would really love to meet the guy who would wear this one!
Hey there music fans.
I was offline for the last couple of days thanks to my ISP having a hiccup (hiccough!) in their abilities! Still, in great and usual form I took the opportunity to enjoy life – hey, it’s what it’s here for.
As I thoroughly enjoyed my day out in the glorious sunshine, watching the waves break at the shoreline was refreshing an energizing.
Letting mother nature do it’s thing with you is a great day.
On the way back an old-timer decided to strike up a conversation with me – yes, it was started by the spaghetti t-shirt I was wearing!
I love to go to the beach today, so posting some new designs in my store. I know its Mother’s day in many parts of the world and I hope your mother has a great day. If you cant be near, at least think about her.
Last year I bought my mother a handbag, which was lovely with many secret compartments, one of which contained an umbrella. It was fantastic, it had a purse with a build in make up kit and mirror, a place to keep your keys safe. Probably one of the best designs I have seen for ages.
My mother, she loved it to. But as I liked it so much, she said
I see that today is going to be an absolutely fabulous baking hot day filled with sunshine and just the right amount of breeze.
With all these summer colors filling your eyes in daytime, try taking them to the nightclub with the new designs I put up today.
