The first two weekends in June are going to be big.
In the UK Isle of Wight will rock the island with some of the biggest bands current and past. The Stone Roses, Paul Weller, The Killers, Bon Jovi and The Script will try to keep the rain away and get the crowd rolling.
In the Netherlands, one of the oldest running festivals will rock the nation. Pinkpop will give stage to Green Day, The Killers, The Script, Kings of Leon and Paramore.
In Germany a double festival has attracted some big names. Rock im Park and Rock am Ring will see performances of The Killers, Green Day, Paramore, The Prodigy, Limp Bizkit and Biffy Clyro
Most eyes (and ears) however will be drawn to one of the biggest bi-annual festivals in the world, Glastonbury. This festival during the last weekend of June will not only promise to be a sold out event, it will also be massive on TV, Radio and on-line. BBC has pulled out all plugs to give fans at home a taste of what they will miss.
Arctic Monkeys, Mumford and Sons, Primal Scream, Nick Cave, The Vaccines, Portishead, The Smashing Pumpkins, Of Monsters and Men and The Lumineers will all be there to entertain the crowd. But probably the majority can’t wait to see one of the biggest and oldest rock bands get on stage. The Rolling Stones will on the Saturday show everyone how its done!
Some bands will have an opportunity to have a little of a break before they have to go to the next festival in July. T in the Park (London) will please the crowds with Mumford & Sons, Kraftwerk, Of Monsters and Men, Texas, Rihanna, Snoop Dogg, The Lumineers and The Killers.
If you happen to be in Belgium in July, why not visit Rock Werchter. You might have a change to see Green Day, Kings of Leon, Depeche Mode, Rammstein and again The Lumineers or Of Monsters and Men.
Alternatively go to Roskilde (Denmark) and you can see Rihanna, Kraftwerk, Slipknot, Of Monsters and Men and The Lumineers.
The season will end in the UK with Reading / Leeds Festival. Green Day, Deftones, Skrillex, Eminem, Biffy Clyro and The Lumineers will rock these two towns over the August weekend.
If you want something completely different, you might want to go to Rotterdam in July to the North Sea Jazz Festival. Some artists known in the pop world will be here giving a completely different show. Santana, Caro Emerald, Jamie Cullum, John Legend and Bobby Womack will be amongst some of the greatest Jazz musicians around to please the audience.
It seems some bands will get little rest this summer! Now let’s hope the weather stays nice and we don’t need wellies, raincoats or canoes this year to get around the campsite.
